4.7: By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development

Through our educational programs, both in schools, and in the communities, we deliver fun and interactive classes to ensure that both the current and future generations of Guatemalans know sustainable practices. From proper waste disposal, to proper hygiene, and safe water consumption. The future begins with education today.

5.5: Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life

As a women-owned, women-led organization, and in the words of our co-founder, women are representative of life and water, the voice of water, the voices of health.

5.6: Adopt and strengthen sound policies and enforceable legislation for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels

Through our female based and led local leaders, we empower women in each of the communities, through our educational sessions, to take the lead on a healthier, more sustainable future for Guatemala.

6.1: By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all

With our current trajectory, we are on route to deliver 1,000 filters per year, with plans to greatly expand, with estimates of nearly 15,000 families in Guatemala having our filters by 2030.

6.3: By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally

Utilizing our greywater filtration tanks and biodigesters, it helps minimize the amount of contaminants entering both Lake Atitlan and the groundwater. With the current pilot projects underway, by 2030, there will be dozens throughout the Lake Atitlan Watershed.

6.6: By 2020, protect and restore water-related ecosystems, including mountains, forests, wetlands, rivers, aquifers and lakes

Utilizing our greywater and blackwater solutions, coupled with the trash cleanups along the Lake, the plan is to greatly reduce contaminants entering Lake Atitlan and reducing the severity of the algal blooms and trash islands.

6.b: Support and strengthen the participation of local communities in improving water and sanitation management

With our strong network of local leaders throughout the Lake Atitlan Watershed, the local communities are at the heart of our work, educating and empowering them to take the sustainable practices we teach with them for a healthier, more sustainable future for not just the Lake, but all of Guatemala.

9.1: Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all

Through our greywater and blackwater treatment solutions, we are aiding in the development of a future focused on environmental sustainability and well-being for Guatemala. With both aiding in the filtration of the untreated wastewater, and also reducing the contamination of the Lake and other vital bodies of water in Guatemala.
